Van Henry Brisbon, 60 is accused of killing his girlfriend's 16-year-old daughter Lauren Juma at their home in Humble, TX.

Juma FaceTimed her mother Laura Young who was out of town for work and stated that Brisbon was acting weird. Young remembers her daughter saying, “Mom, help me!” She also phoned her sister Keryca Harmon begging for her to pick her up.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, Lauren was being held captive at gunpoint by Brisbon Friday around 1 a.m., KHOU reports.

Police received a 911 call from the victim's sister Keryca.

When police arrived they heard a gunshot as they approached the front door and then Brisbon exited the home and was seen pulling up his pants when police took him into custody. The suspect said “Do what you have to do” as he was being arrested.

Once inside the home police discovered the body of Lauren dead from multiple gunshot wounds. It’s believed that the victim was raped after finding her pants down to her knees. A rape kit is being ordered to confirm if Lauren was also the victim of sexual assault, according to ABC 13.

Brisbon’s hearing in court was on Monday for murder charges. He is now being held at the Harris County Jail where he's booked on a $2 million bond after the judge increased it from $1 million. Lauren’s family appeared at the hearing wearing matching shirts with her photo on it as they looked her killer in the eyes.

Young was in a relationship with Brisbon for five years and says he treated Lauren like his baby and she doesn’t know how that could happen. She went on to say that he could rot in jail.

Lauren was a sophomore at Nimitz high school and had recently joined the cheer squad.
