28-year-old Joshua Johnson is accused of killing 17-year-old Riley Whitelaw at a Walgreens in Colorado Springs on Centennial Boulevard on Saturday, June 11, FOX 21 reports.

Whitelaw’s body was found in a bloodied break room by a manager. When police arrived they discovered Whitelaw dead at the scene along with an employee identification badge and a radio earpiece on the floor by her feet, according to the arrest affidavit.

Johnson was arrested after Colorado State Troopers spotted him with scratches on his face and hands walking along I-25 near Trinidad street.

During a police interview, Johnson told police that he was in the break room and went home to change his bloody clothes after falling in the victim's blood.

Whitelaw had complained to her manager Justin Zunino that Johnson made her feel uncomfortable a year ago but when she wanted to be assigned more hours on the schedule it left her working with the suspect.

Johnson confessed to having a crush on the 17-year-old but says he was no longer interested after becoming intimate with another manager. That manager never mentioned the alleged relationship while speaking with the police.

Johnson is facing first-degree murder charges and will appear in court on June 21 in El Paso County.
