2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland, OH

April 30, 2021

By: Nick McIntosh

The biggest night for football rookies is here. Today is the 2021 NFL Draft. We have the front seat to see every college kid, like myself, dreams come true. A big night so let’s get started with the #1 Overall Pick.

All pick selections will be in bold.

  1. JAX Jaguars – The first overall pick belongs to Trevor Lawrence (QB – Clemson). Lawrence won the 2020 Heisman Trophy. Now he is a leader in Jacksonville, FL.
  2. NY Jets – I bet the great city of New York are excited for their pick. Jets got Zach Wilson (QB - Brigham Young). Another first round franchise QB.
  3. SF 49ers – This is by far one of the most interesting picks overall. With the sealed fate, not confirmed, of Jimmy Garoppolo (QB) being traded, the 49ers are on the move. They have selected their new franchise player, Trey Lance (QB – North Dakota State). We will see what happens in the coming days of the fate of Garoppolo.
  4. ATL Falcons – The most disappointing team of NFL. After their 2017 Super Bowl Loss against the NE Patriots, Falcons needs to pick it back up. ATL must make big moves to help Matt Ryan (QB). They picked their help with Kyle Pitts (TE – Florida).
  5. CIN Bengals – We will see a homecoming in this 2021 NFL Season with former LSU Players, Joe Burrow (QB) and Ja’Marr Chase (WR – LSU). How exciting!
  6. MIA Dolphins – Another Homecoming that we will see this coming season. Tua Tagovailoan (QB) will see Jaylen Waddle (WR – Alabama). What a great time to be a Dolphin fan.
  7. DET Lions – Lions have lost their franchise QB Matthew Stafford, to gain another QB, Jared Goff.  To help the brigade, DET chose Penei Sewell (OT – Oregon).
  8. CAR Panthers – Panthers are in a sticky situation and I do not know if they are ready to come out of it. With Jaycee Horn (CB – South Carolina), we will see if that helps.
  9. DEN Broncos – To Denver we go. This team is in the most competitive division in all of AFC. They need help. DEN selected Patrick Surtain II (CB – Edge).
  10. PHI Eagles (Traded the 12th Overall to DAL) – The Cowboys were on the clock. PHI wanted to find any way to make sure the NYG gets screwed over. They did. PHI selected Devonta Smith (WR – Alabama).
  11. CHI Bears (Traded the 20th Overall to NYG) – A surprise twist, but we saw this coming. The Bears needed a quarterback. And in that, they received one. CHI acquired Justin Fields (QB – Ohio State). Let us see if this puts Da Bears on track.
  12. DAL Cowboys (Traded the 10th Overall to PHI) – Cowboys lost all their favorite picks. They had a horrible season last year and they lost a key player, Sean Lee, couple days ago. To replace him, DAL selected Micah Parsons (LB – Penn State). Let hope for the Cowboys fans they make a big turnaround.
  13. LA Chargers – Justin Herbert (QB) needs a lot of help when it comes to the line. They got it with Rashawn Slater (OT – Northwestern).
  14. NY Jets (Traded the 23rd Overall to MIN) – The NYJ are in the process to remake their identity as “Super Bowl Champions.” But it all starts with Alijah Vera-Tucker (G – USC).
  15. NE Patriots – This was a surprising pick. I was shocked. But barley, reflecting at last year Patriots. Missing the post season, NE got Mac Jones (QB – Alabama). We will watch and see if Jones has what it takes to be the next Tom Brady.
  16. AZ Cardinals – My home state did not disappoint. AZ almost had a chance to make it to the post season. To help them and hopefully get the Cardinals to the promise land is Zaven Collins (LB – Tulsa).
  17. LV Raiders – Raiders are back on the move. Let us see if they make a post season debut this year with Alex Leatherwood (OT – Alabama).
  18. MIA Dolphins – MIA trying to be the best in the AFC East. Their second first round pick is Jaelan Philips (EDGE – Miami).
  19. WASH Football Team – This team has been through ups and downs. With Washington Head Coach Ron Rivera having cancer and the greatest comeback player of the year, Alex Smith (QB), finally retiring, they need a ray of sunshine to shine on FedEx Field. Maybe Jamin Davis (LB – Kentucky) is that ray.
  20. NY Giants (Traded the 11th Overall to CHI) – The Giants had a rough night this draft. Kadarius Toney (WR – Florida) may change all that.
  21. IND Colts – The team that shocked me the most was the Colts. Having Kwity Paye (EDGE – Michigan) possibly might push them over the edge of greatness.
  22. TEN Titans – Oh Titans. You are by far the scariest team right now in the AFC. Good luck with Caleb Farley (CB – Virginia Tech).
  23. MIN Vikings (Traded the 14th Overall to NYG) – You did good Vikings. Christian Darrisaw (OT – Virginia Tech) is your guy.
  24. PIT Steelers – From first in the AFC to losing to the former losing team of all of NFL, CLE Browns, you seem to never disappoint Steelers. Najee Harris (RB – Clemson) could possibly be your next star.
  25. JAX Jaguars – JAX is on the move, yet again. We will hopefully see them in the AFC Championship with Travis Etienne (RB – Clemson).
  26. CLE Browns – I cannot express the sheer joy this organization brought to me. You really reenacted Drake’s song, “Started from the Bottom.” Greg Newsome II (CB – Northwestern) may give you that edge on your defensive side.
  27. BAL Ravens – We get to see you twice BAL. They have selected Rashod Bateman (WR -Minnesota).
  28. NO Saints – You are in big trouble now without your star Quarterback Drew Brees. You could be the wildcard in the NFC. The NO Saints selected Payton Turner (DE – Houston).
  29. GB Packers – The fiercest competitors of the NFC, GB selected Eric Stokes (CB – Georgia).
  30. BUF Bills – The surprising team of the AFC. The BUF Bills were in the grasp of the Super Bowl. Maybe Greg Rousseau (EDGE – Miami) is your man to get you to the NFL promise land.
  31. BAL Ravens (Acquired from KC Chiefs) – BAL wants so badly to be in the Super Bowl. Ravens selected Jayson Oweh (EDGE – Penn State).
  32. TB Buccaneers (Super Bowl Champs) – Finally the surprised. What more does Tampa Bay need? They were last season’s Super Bowl Champs. Joe Tryon (EDGE – Washington) might get you that next ring.
