Around midnight on Friday night, 38 people were killed and over 100 people have been hospitalized due to a stampede in Israel at Mount Meron during Lag BaOmer festivities, according to the Israeli Health Ministry. Out of the people that were injured 23 of them are in critical condition, the local officials said.

In the video from the scene, it shows ambulances are lined up for the deceased and injured. At the scene 6 helicopters were also sent by the Israeli military to aid the rescue of the injured.

The victims were transported to Ziv Hospital in Safed and Galil Medical Center in Nahariya.

This all took place during Lag BaOmer, which is an annual celebration on the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai. Rabbi Shimon was buried in a tomb at Mount Meron there in northern Israel. The festival includes pilgrimages to bar Yochai's tomb, singing, dancing, lighting bonfires and celebrating throughout the entire night.
