A 5-year-old boy was shot and killed on Thanksgiving in Brooklyn Park by a 13-year-old who was making a video along with his other friends who were in the room. Brooklyn Park is located 11 miles north of Minneapolis.

Minnesota police arrived to a home around 10:30 p.m. to find the boy In need of medical care and they rendered first aid but unfortunately he died at the scene, Brooklyn Park Police Deputy Chief Mark Bruley told CBS Minnesota station WCCO.

“Lock them [firearms] up and lock the ammo up separate. We, as adults, it’s our obligation to make sure that they [children] don’t have access to them,” Bruley said.

Adults were inside the home when this incident occurred and it’s unclear how the children were able to get to the gun or who it belonged to.

The teen was arrested and taken to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center. He could be charged with manslaughter and the gun owner could also face charges as well.

This is an ongoing story.
