On Saturday, two adults and one child were gunned down by a man who opened fire in the parking lot of the Landfall Center shopping complex in Wilmington. The police responded a little after 4 p.m. to reports of gunfire said Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams.

Arriving on the scene, the officers found two adults and one child lifeless from gunshot wounds. The names of the victims were not immediately released.

The suspect in question was located alive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. His identity was not immediately released by police either.

Williams claimed there seemed to be “some form of personal relationship” between the suspect and the victims. Though, investigators are still ascertaining the real motive behind this attack.

"This is a very unfortunate, tragic incident, and our hearts and thoughts go out to the families that are impacted by this and any friends and loved ones," Williams said.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stages according to the police but also said that more information would be released at the earliest opportunity.
