Shireen Abu Akle, 51, was killed after being shot in the head Wednesday while reporting on a raid between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.

A second journalist also was injured and is listed in “serious but stable condition”

The Palestinian Health Ministry is saying that the Israeli forces are responsible for her death. An investigation is underway to see just who shot Abu Akle and officials are examining a 5.56mm caliber M16 bullet that was recovered from her body. Both Israeli forces and Palestinians are known to use the same bullets so it’s making it more difficult to confirm.

At least 30 people are protesting the death of Akle and carrying signs that read "Occupation = terror."

"We stand here this evening in protest of the murder of the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh today in Jenin," Raja Zaatry, chairman of the Haifa branch of the Hadash communist party, said.

He described Abu Akleh's killing as "a grave crime that is added to the many crimes of the occupation, which is the main and daily terror in this country."
