British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has agreed to resign after years of scandals and tensions within his party.
During Johnson’s speech, he said he was proud of his achievements, including getting Brexit done, getting the UK through the pandemic, and leading the West in standing up to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine and that it was "clearly now the will of the parliamentary party" for there to be a new PM.
Unclear of just when Johnson will part ways, many are elated and more than ready to fill the position that he’s held since 2019. He will step down as the Leader but will remain as Prime Minister until the leadership contest is held.
Opposition Labour Party leader Keir Starmer posted to Twitter early this morning saying that UK Boris Johnson will resign as Conservative Party leader, calling it "good news."
"He was always unfit for office," Starmer said in a statement shared on Twitter. "He has been responsible for lies, scandal and fraud on an industrial scale. And all those who have been complicit should be utterly ashamed."
Johnson was able to dodge his Partygate allegations during one of the strictest COVID-19 lockdowns, promoting a member of Parliament amongst his sexual misconduct allegations and more without concern or regrets.
The road to resignation wasn’t an easy one and it came after 44 ministers and aides quit while pleading with Johnson to release his power and position.
The Conservatives have overseen 12 years of economic stagnation, declining public services and empty promises.

We don’t need to change the Tory at the top – we need a proper change of government.
We need a fresh start for Britain. pic.twitter.com/uMxRTomXX9
