Calvin Simon Of The Parliament Funkadelic Dead At 79

Calvin Simon, one of the co-founders and bassist of the legendary funk soul group Parliament Funkadelic passed away at the age of 79, according to group member Bootsy Collins.

Collins posted to Instagram the following: We lost another Original member of Parliament/Funkadelic. A friend, bandmate & a cool classic guy, Mr. Calvin Simon was a former member of Parliament/Funkadelic. He's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen members of P-Funk!

Simon started as one of the original members with the group in the 50’s and was known for hits such as "Flashlight", "Bring The Funk", “Everything Is On The One”, “I Wanna Testify”, “One Nation Under A Groove”, “Party People”. He also released a solo album called “Share The News” which reached number #32 on the Billboard top Gospel charts in 2019.

Simon and his group the Parliament Funkadelics were given a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards.

They were also inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame in 1997.
