Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday that four Louisville police officers have been charged in connection with Breonna Taylor’s death in 2020 for alleged Civil Rights violations.

Former detective Joshua Jaynes was arrested by the FBI Thursday morning for his role in obtaining the search warrant that led to Taylor’s death with the no-knock warrant.

Former Det. Brett Hankison was indicted on two counts of deprivation of rights, Kelly Goodlett has been charged with conspiracy charges, and current LMPD sergeant Kyle Meany was charged and arrested.

Garland claims that it’s believed that the officers purposely falsified the warrant and took efforts to cover up their actions that led to Taylor’s death.
