It is now confirmed that Lady Gaga will be joining the DC Universe alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to 2019’s Joker.

Today Gaga shared a video on Twitter of the silhouettes of Phoenix and Gaga before revealing the title of the film, and the release date of October 4, 2024. According to Entertainment Tonight, her new role and an accurate description of the film are currently unknown. However, many speculate that she will star as a new Harley Quinn, following Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Quinn in Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

This is joyful news for Gaga, as many are aware of her beloved dogs, Koji and Gustav, being stolen after her dog walker Ryan Fischer was shot. According to People’s website, one of the perpetrators, James Howard Jackson, was mistakenly released from jail in April. Four people in total were arrested for the act, including Jackson, but Jackson was recaptured on Wednesday after a previous release for shooting Fischer. People reported that Fischer suffered a collapsed lung from the incident, and stayed inside for months due to the trauma. Gaga released a public statement for Fischer, saying “I continue to love you, Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family…You're forever a hero."

Although details of the upcoming Joker sequel have not yet been disclosed, ET reported that the script is written by Todd Phillips, and the film will be directed by Phillips following his directing of 2019’s Joker.
