Three people are dead, including the alleged suspect after a shooting took place at a Publix grocery store inside of the Royal Palm, Florida around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The victims were a grandmother and her 1-year-old grandson and the shooter died from a self inflicted gunshot.

Although the investigation is new, it was previously believed that the suspect knew the victim, which was later confirmed to be untrue by the sheriff's office.

Publix is actively working with law enforcement and at this time, no names have been released to the public. During a press conference, Teri Barbera, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, stated that the scene was “NOT an active shooter situation.”

After the scene unfolded, many law enforcement officials swarmed the area and began interviewing both employees and customers. Additionally, officials were on the scene reviewing the store’s surveillance footage.

ABC news reports, the victims' families have invoked Marsy's law, so they will not be identified, the sheriff's office said.
Once the gunman's family has been notified, then authorities will release his name to the public, the sheriff stated.
Publix released a statement Thursday, saying, "Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy."
The company said it was cooperating with law enforcement but declined to offer additional details, citing the active investigation.
As the investigation continues, this story will be regularly updated.
