Donald Craighead, 44, was arrested around midnight on Monday by the U.S. Capitol Police for being in possession of a Bayonet & Machete which are both illegal in Washington, D.C.

Police spotted Craighead outside DNC headquarters and pulled over the Dodge Dakota pickup truck that he was driving since it caught their attention due to having a swastika and other white supremacy symbols painted on it, according to The Hill.

The vehicle did not have a license plate but instead had a photo of the American flag where the plate would normally be. Once pulled over Craighead told officers that he was “on patrol,” as he continued on with his speech to police they suspected him of possibly being a white supremist.

The Hill was able to get a statement from the Chief of police after the arrest was made. “This is good police work plain and simple,” Chief Tom Manger said. “We applaud the officers’ keen observation and the teamwork that resulted in this arrest.”

“This is an excellent example of the work our officers do every day,” Operational Services Bureau Deputy Chief Jason Bell added. “We are so proud of these officers for their vigilance.”

Police were unclear of Craighead’s agenda and are investigating him as the city prepares for a group who supports the Jan. 6th Insurrectionist, who will be in town for a rally called the “Justice of J6”, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Law enforcement are preparing for the group and making sure that it's not a repeat of the events that took place on Jan. 6 and placing the fence backup as well.

"The fence will go up a day or two before and if everything goes well it will come down very soon after," Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger told reporters in the Capitol.
