Update: Vicky White has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to CNN.

Missing inmate Casey White and corrections officer Vicky White are now in police custody after they were caught following a pursuit in Indiana on Monday.

Tips led U.S. Marshals to a stolen pickup truck that was found in Evansville, Ind. The couple was spotted at a hotel and were involved in a wreck when a Marshal drove into a Cadillac that Vicky White was driving which ended in an arrest. According to Sheriff Dave Wedding of Vanderburgh County. Vicky was transported to a nearby hospital where she’s being treated for “very serious” injuries for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. She is not expected to make it thru the night.

According to Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton, Casey surrendered to the U.S. Marshals, and no shots were fired by law enforcement.

"Casey White and Vicky White are in custody," Singleton said. "This has ended a very long and stressful and challenging week and a half. It ended the way that we knew it would. They are in custody."

The two had been missing since April 29 after Vicky helped Casey escape by saying that she was taking him for a mental evaluation at the courthouse. All was a lie and merely a plot to help free Casey who is awaiting a murder trial.

Casey White was charged with two counts of capital murder in September 2020 in the brutal stabbing of 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway. He was already serving time for a 2015 crime spree that involved a home invasion, carjacking, and a police chase. Vicky has been charged with permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree.
