In the Chicago Loop, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot while two others were injured on Saturday night.

According to the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the boy, identified as Seandell Holliday, was shot in the chest and then taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The two injured include an unknown aged man who was taken to the hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the neck and chest along with an 18-year-old in fair condition with wounds to his left hand.

Although the investigation is currently ongoing, two people were taken into custody as people of interest. Police additionally recovered two weapons from the scene, which is near the famous “Bean” sculpture in Millennium Park.

"Of course, young people are welcome everywhere in our city, but community norms require respect for each other, people's property, and the sanctity of life. Anything less simply will not be tolerated. We must also have zero tolerance for young people carrying firearms or settling petty disputes with acts of violence,” Mayor Lori Lightfoot said in a statement.
