The Weeknd Will Continue To Boycott The Grammys Despite Rule Change 
 
Last year the Weeknd didn't receive any Grammy nominations. This led him to call the Grammys "corrupt" and pledge not to submit any more of his work in the future for award consideration. 
 
Recently the recording academy announced some changes they will be making to the nomination process for the 2022 Grammy awards. They've chosen to stop finalizing nominations by committees of 15 to 30 industry “peers" representing their "genre communities”. They've decided to pick the nominees for nearly all Grammy awards by a majority vote of academy voting members.
 
Even though the Grammys are making some changes the Weeknd is sticking by his boycott. He stated, "even though I won't be submitting my music, the Grammys recent admission of corruption will hopefully be a positive move for the future of this plagued award and give the artist community the respect it deserves with a transparent voting process.”
 
In another interview, the Weeknd stated, "the trust has been broken for so long between the Grammy organization and artists that it would be unwise to raise a victory flag. I think the industry and public alike need to see the transparent system truly at play for the win to be celebrated, but it's an important start. I remain uninterested in being a part of the Grammys, especially with their own admission of corruption for all these decades. I will not
